Someone’s take on a night with the Rivets

Every now and then, we come across a blog inwhich we are mentioned. Here is our most recent find! Thanks for the kind words Fraze:

....Last night at BT's, Jamison and I checked out a band called The Pop Rivets. They were simply awesome - they played a few originals which I enjoyed, but being as they were playing in a college bar, there were a lot of great covers from the 70s and 80s. A lot of my old standbys made an appearance, including: "Jessie's Girl," "867-5309 (Jenny)," "Folsom Prison," "I Wanna Be Sedated," "Electric Avenue," "Sex Machine," "Superstitious," "Dancing With Myself," "Mustang Sally," and even George Michael's "Faith." They also did an amazing rendition of House of Pain's "Jump Around" and Naughty by Nature's "O.P.P."

It was a joyous time - playing darts with Jamison who I'm quite admirable of, because he's got that spirit, just wanting to jam and be one with something real, because music is one of the few things in this world that IS real. A guitar riff or a melody played on a piano is an extension of the skilled artisan behind it. It speaks to us subliminally - we just have to listen.

I drank - a lot, we all did. We danced freely and made fools of ourselves. I felt ALIVE - which is a great feeling. It's like, when you're almost in a car crash or you have a near-death experience, you feel more alive than ever, isn't it ironic? Doing something that's "so bad" for you makes you feel so good... I guess that's the whole apple in the Garden of Eden story coming around again.

It was a night filled with red, blue and green flashing stage lights, lots of ash trays filled with butted-out cigarettes, empty beer bottles and shot glasses. The familiar closing song chimes in and I hear "time to take your drunk ass home," I just laugh and sit down my once-frosty mug. I say my goodbyes to a couple girls that were rocking out, sharing the vibe, and head out the back door......
